That kind of depends on what he has available to him. If he is mainly in the rear, he might have tv’s there. If that’s the case you could send him dvd’s. You can never go wrong with jerky, nuts, crackers, Gatorade powder mix, sunflower seeds, socks, disposable cameras, wet wipes, hard candy, gum, magazines, toothpaste, shaving cream, razors, toothbrush, …etc. One thing you can never go wrong with are letters and pictures. Send a letter everyday if you have the time. My mom would bake homemade cookies and put them in empty pringles containers. They would stay fresh for quite some time. I remember hearing once about a website where you could order a birthday cake and they would send it over there. I’ll try and find that for you. One thing he might like is a mp3 player. You could load all of his favorite songs on it that would remind him of you and of home. For valentine’s day, take a picture of you in something romantic. Just anything you can think of that will show him how much you love and miss him. There are many things you can send. Just make sure they are packed well. Put stuff that could make a mess in zip lock baggies. When shopping just look at stuff and think if it will make the trip without being broke. As an example, chocolate can melt in the heat, better not send that. I wish you and your husband the best of luck and thank him for his service for me! Your husband along with the rest of the troops are constantly in my prayers!

We made up a care package for some soldiers recently. They told us what they miss the most is TV, since it’s really lame there.
We sent some seasons of their most requested shows like 24, CSI etc.
If you know what TV shows he misses, send him a season on DVD and send him our love and protection.

Find out first if his basic needs are met. Some soldiers have access to a PX to buy hygiene, shaving, bathing stuff and some do not have access to a PX because of locations or missions they are on. Meet basic needs first.
If he has everything he needs then think about sending a fun box. Example: fun stuff like dried pineapple, playing cards and poker chips, magazines on his favorite subjects and hobbies, new DVD movies if he has access to somewhere to watch them, tropical flavored life savers hard candies, a small travel pillow and pillow case, really good socks like the ones that massage your feet, and a really pretty picture of you.
If you are sending food always send it in its own box with no hygiene items or the food will get poisoned with the hygiene chemicals.
God Bless
Tell him thanks from a grateful citizen from me.
