What Is The Best/most Affordable Way For An Independent Book Publisher To Market/advertise Their Books?
Posted on | December 26, 2009 |
I’m starting a small book publishing company, and would love some pointers on marketing and advertising of the books. I’ll be publishing fiction. The first book specifically is about an 18 year old Jamaican girl who moves to the US to be reunited with her mother after not seeing her for nearly 10 years. It’s sort of soap opera-like with love triangles and lots of drama. Any tips on marketing a book of this genre? Any tips on marketing a book by a new author? Thanks.

Attend Book Fairs across the USA. You set up a booth and sell your books.

1) Sell through AMAZON.com. That way Amazon’s affiliates will sell your book as well…let others sell your book for you.
Make a nice video about it and post on youtube
2) Create a blog or a site about it…make it creative.
3) Try also turning your book into an EBOOK, make it a cheaper price… no overhead.
4) After you turn to EBOOKS, you may even strech to clickbank.com and let their affiliates sell your ebooks for you.
5) Create your own “book club”, put ads on craigslist about a new book club reading every saturday on Barnes and Nobles or other places…Make sure all the books in the reading are yours.
6) Create a blog (for charity porpuses)… parts of the money from the sale from your books will go to a certain charity…
7) Gazillions of people sell books out there…make something catchy and different… like…give the homeless people around your area tshirts, or sweaters…etc…with your site (blog) name on it, let them wear them and in exchange give them a percentage of your sales…be creative..
9) Make it an Audio Book as well
10) Call newspapers to review your book or business…you would be surprised how many say yes… you will be featured in the newspaper…and if you are donating part of the money to charity…it’s a big plus they will say yes
11) Give people freebies, always linking something in the freebie to other of your products or business
12) If your book is featured on the newspaper, ask the guy to add that you will be signing books for all the customers at a certain day, location and time…coffeshop for example.
Hope this helps somewhat! Good luck!
