Posted on | September 23, 2009 |

I love to read, but the only books i read are by stephenie meyer. I would like to expand my reading list, but Stephenie is the only author i can trust. Does anyone know of some books that are EXTREMELY similar?

Honestly, and I am not saying this to be mean but, are you seriously only going to read books like Twilight? Stephanie Meyer isn’t that great and if that is the only books you’ve read you’re missing out on so much more.
Go to your book store and look around. Read the backs of books and skim through the pages to see if it’s easy/difficult enough for you. But honestly don’t only look for books like Twilight. Vampires/Horny teens are such a fad and you can’t go wrong with the classics :)
Best of luck with your reading

These aren’t extremely similar, but the first few I list are really good. I personally think are better than Twilight, even though I absolutely love Twilight.
The House of Night series—It knocked me straight out of my Twilight obsession. Even though I am still hyped about the DVD and New Moon movie. The ending of the last book drove me nuts and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.
Vampire Academy series–I just finished this and I can’t wait for the next one! It was awesome and totally made me cry like a million time and make me angry. It sure does keep you on your toes.
Society of S—This book is very interesting. I believe it may be an adult book, but I’m not sure. It’s about a thirteen year old girl, but her vocabulary and English is advanced. It’s a good read though.
Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen—awesome book!
The Gallagher Girls series is interesting…It’s about a girl that goes to spy school. The first book is “I’d tell you I love you, but then I’d have to kill you”.
The two books I actually enjoyed reading in school were Speak and Holes. Speak is a really good book.
A few other books I have read recently and enjoyed are: Kissing Kate, The Bermudez Triangle, and Empress of the World.
Some series that others have told me to read that are in the Young Adult/ Supernatural genre are: The Mortal Instruments series, Darkest Powers series, Maxium Ride, Vampire Kisses series, The Vampire Diaries, The Uglies series, and Chronicles of Narnia
Then these more classical books: anything Jane Austen, To Kill a Mockingbird, Wuthering Heights, Great Expectations, Jane Eyre, Little Women, Odyssey, The Scarlet Letter, and Treasure Island. All of those are part of Barnes and Nobles Classic Collection.
Any of these books listed can be found on Barnes and Noble to know what they are about.

If you want something EXTREMELY similar you are not expanding your reading list. Your looking for the exact same thing. I love Twilight. I think Stephanie Meyers is a very creative young adult writer, but if you truly love to read you’d know that its nothing compared to some of the classics.
If you want to stay within the tennie bopper VampRomance go to barnes and noble.com find twilight and on the side it will say readers who bought this also bought, and similar books.
Try reading some classics, like Pride and Prejudice, or Tale of Two Cities. Stephanie is the only author you trust….. GET OUT OF TWIWORLD!!!!! its kinda lame haha.

I absolutely LOVE Twilight! It’s an awesome book, and Taylor is totally HOT!!!! If you saw the movie, then you’ll love New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. Those are all from the twilight series, and they are all from Stephanie Meyer! And I also recommend the Kidnapped: The Abduction series by Gordon Korman! He’s really good, and the books have alot of action.

To all the people trashing the book below… everyone has a different opinion on what books they like to read. personally, id say the twilight books are AMAZING and not about horny vampires. I would reccommend any Sarah Dessen books.
The book Just Listen is great

Read Interview With a Vampire by Anne Rice.
That way you can experience what good writing, and a good vampire book, really is. And it will reveal the truth about twilight to you.
