Great except for three lame rap tracks
This is a very good dance mix album except for the inclusion of three terrible rap songs that are not danceable and completely break the flow of the album.

I bought this CD specifically for Hilary Duff’s Stranger remix and because the Tell Me (Diddy/Christina Aguilera) and Thnks Fr Th Mmrs (Fall Out Boy) remixes intrigued me. I’m usually a big fan of Thrive Mix CDs, and while I do like hip hop in general, I think it was a mistake to put in unremixed hip hip songs such as A Bay Bay (Hurricane Chris) and It’s Goin Down (Young Joc).

The groove of the CD is completely thrown off by trying to transition from a faster dance mix to a slower hip hop beat. While the hip hop songs are ok songs, they just don’t belong together on the same CD/playlist as the dance remixes. As for the dance remixes, there are a few really unique songs, but not all of them are very good in my opinion. The Bossy (Kelis) remix just isn’t that good — I’ve heard better dance remixes of this song. Also, the Glamorous mix (Fergie) is unique but still not a song I’d want to listen to over and over again.

The hip hop songs belong on a CD such as the Now series and not on a dance CD. It’s not a CD you can just listen to as it’s arranged. I wish they had used the track real estate for songs that actually fall into the Dance genre. Overall, the CD is pretty disappointing, and I should have just bought the three or four good mixes instead of the whole CD. There are much better dance CDs out there, but again there are a handful of really good mixes (Stranger, Thanks Fr Th Mmrs, Never Again).

Thrive, a label known for its two disc sets of hot and rare remixes, gives us this single disc compilation, filled with several sought after mixes, but also an odd assortment of music genres, some of which only allow for LP versions–crunk and hip hop hits in the middle of a house/electro music CD is kinda weird). Good news is, the sought after remixes are predominantly over 5 minutes on this disc. Just wish it had been an unmixed disc with all the full length remixes. Track times:

    1. Glamorous (poetnamelife mix)…fergie (5:55) (almost unrecognizable as this huge fergie hit. Lots of new vocal not on the original track)
    2. clothes off (josh harris mix)…gym class heroes (5:22) (great dance mix)
    3. cupid shuffle…cupid (4:39)
    4. tell me (mr. mig mix)…christina aguilera & diddy (4:16) (If there is more than 4 minutes of this fantastic mix, I wish we could have gotten a longer version)
    5. because of you (sunfreakz mix)…ne-yo (5:08) (one of the hot, unreleased dance mixes)
    6. promiscuous (axwell 2008 mix)…nelly furtado (3:54)
    7. bossy (braxe & falke mix)…kelis (4:42)
    8. easy…paula deanda (3:56)
    9. it’s goin down…yung joc (2:32)
    10. a bay bay…hurricane chris (2:33)
    11. this is why i’m hot…mims (3:53)
    12. world hold on…bob sinclar (6:56)
    13. truly madly deeply (thomas gold mix)…cascada (4:46)
    14. stranger (wawa mix)…hilary duff (5:22) (great to have this unreleased mix clocking in at over 5 minutes)
    15. never again (dave aude mix)…kelly clarkson (6:47) (near seven minutes of this unreleased mix. Awesome)
    16. thanks for the memories (lenny b mix)…fall out boy (7:03) (this remix of this huge hit is definitely a reason to pick up this compilation)

This cd kicks off with Glamorous and the transition from dance to hip hop mid album is seemless.
I’ve been playing it non stop since I bought it.

    Dissatisfied
I wasn’t too happy with the songs that were on here. The commercial made them sound so much better.

    Not Thrivemix’s best CD
Although 95 per cent of the Ultra Records and Thrivemix CD’s are very enjoyable, this single disc CD is somewhat boring.

    Bold Move
    Thrive took a bold new move by adding the hip-hop set in the middle;
and I kinda enjoyed it. Its different that’s for sure.
